The Hand-Crafted Base Lodge
We built the new Base Lodge ourselves with timber from our land over several summers. It was first opened for use in 1998. The upper level has a large open hall for dining and lounging by the fireplace and woodstove, with a cathedral ceiling and big windows for watching the skiers. Our elegant rest rooms are on this level, as well as the cafeteria style restaurant.
On weekends and holidays the Restaurant serves hearty soups and homemade chili, made-to-order sandwiches, homemade muffins and cookies, hot chocolate and spiced cider, fresh fruit and snacks. Delicious drinking water from our well is always available, as well as natural spritzers and sodas, herbal teas and fresh coffee. Skiers are always welcome to bring their own food. On weekdays the restaurant is set up with self-serve soup, snacks and drinks. Pack a lunch if you need a full meal. A microwave is set out for your use.
The lower level of the Lodge is our Ski Shop where skiers buy their trail tickets, rent ski equipment, and pick up our detailed trail map. We sell a few accessories like hats, gloves, socks, and waxing supplies. Here is another cozy space to sit by a woodstove to warm your toes or wait for friends. You are welcome to leave your boots here while you ski.
Next door is the Waxing Shed, a heated space set up with a bench and iron for skiers to prepare their waxable skis. Beside it is the Picnic Shed with a fireplace and deck, a pleasant place to sit on sunny days for a rest or a picnic. For more remote picnic spots, ski to our three open shelters out on the trails.Renting the Base Lodge
Our Base Lodge is available to rent for gatherings such as meetings, parties, and weddings between November 20th and March 31st depending on snow and the needs of the ski area.
The building is well suited for sixty guests seated at tables, or up to one hundred guests standing or dancing.
The facilities includes an oak post and beam open hall, 30' by 40', with a cathedral ceiling, oak floorboards, picture windows on three sides, and a big brick chimney and fireplace. A small raised stage and complete stereo system aid in entertaining the group. Spacious men's and women's restrooms, an elegant entrance foyer with coat racks, and a large, well-equipped kitchen complete the available indoor space.
We do not provide food service but you are welcome to bring your own choice of caterers, or to use our kitchen to cook in yourselves. There is a restaurant style gas stove with a huge oven, plenty of counter space, two large deep sinks and one shallow sink, a microwave oven, a coffee machine, and a large refrigerator.
Rates for renting the Lodge range from $300 to $500 depending on the length of time, the day of the week, and the various options available to you.
